1 Insight From Me

I just came to Beihai.

Unexpectedly, it became the first place I wanted to leave after just arriving.

Because of one thing – cockroaches.

For a northerner like me, this creature only exists on TV and is about the size of an ant. However, the first night I moved here, as soon as I turned on the light, a cockroach as long as a finger, again, [as long as a finger], stood on the ground, shaking its tentacles and staring at me, as if I broke into its home.

“Surprise Madafaka!”

The whole night I was in shock and didn’t fall asleep, full of doomsday visions of it summoning his 108 brothers to crawl into my bed and eat me alive.

Screw the beach, the scenery, the warmth, or the house price, I just want to go back. Xi’an’s nose-running winter and skin-peeling summer have never been so beautiful.

Luckily I didn’t really leave.

The next day, I looked up the method of killing cockroaches, asked the locals about the situation, bought the things I needed to kill them, came back and did what I learned. No more cockroaches were found in the house later.

I can finally live here with peace of mind.

Now, let me give you some fresh sea breeze ༄༄ to blow away these graphic scenes.

Progress starts with discomfort and ends with comfort. What makes you uncomfortable is often the right direction, an opportunity for improvement.

Just like the first time I rode the rollercoaster, I was terribly afraid, but after the ride, I not only overcame my fear of it but also gained a little more understanding of myself and became a little stronger.

Fear of failure will only make your path narrower and narrower. What you should do is to fail fast.

Pursuit of comfort will only make your heart smaller and smaller, what you should do is to solve problems.

Don’t avoid it, welcome it.

1 Insight From Others

Move to a place that feels strange, until it feels like home. Constantly learning and growing. Then do it again, pursuing discomfort, until the whole world is my home.

1 Small Step To Take

“What if this is an opportunity?”

Next time you want to quit something, first think about whether it is worth doing. Whenever it’s worth doing, think of it as a small level in a game, an opportunity to master a new skill. Once you come out of the other end, you’ll be a better person.

PS: What does “mentally strong” mean?
