1 Insight From Me

Jesse Itzler is an awesome entrepreneur, rapper, athlete, and author. (WTF?)

Jesse Itzler tedwild.cc

He founded Marquis Jet, a private jet rental company, which he sold to Warren Buffett. Cooperated to run ZICO coconut water and sold it to Coca-Cola. Wrote the famous basketball team song Go New York Go. He is also an ultramarathon runner, regularly running 160-kilometer (100-mile) marathons. He is also the author of 2 New York Times bestsellers.

His way of thinking is very unique, and there are many stories that made me shout to myself, “WTF! how did you think of that!” Here is one of them.

Marquis Jet, a private jet rental company he founded, sells use time of private jets. One card can fly for 25 hours. When he first started Marquis Jet, he was just a 29-year-old rapper with no business and no private jet. So he found NetJets, the world’s largest private jet company, to negotiate cooperation.

A private jet is worth more than $ 25 million. How could NetJets give over 600 of its jets to a 29-year-old rapper just because he pitched an idea?

Generally, when people try to raise funds they use PPT presentations. But no, not Jesse. He directly brought the client to the negotiation table and let the client negotiate with the investor.

He found many people who had the need for private jet rental, such as business owners, athletes, and actors, and asked these prospective customers to line up one by one and tell investors why they had the need for private jet rental.

After the negotiation, NetJets asked him to raise his own money to do it, and if it could be done, they would agree to cooperate with him.

Just a year later, he had more customers than NetJets.

Jesse Itzler said that his lack of experience is actually his advantage because he can not be boxed by existing methods of doing things, but start from the ultimate goal he wants to achieve.

In fact, the first step in doing anything in life is to know where you are going.

Start from the end.

1 Insight From Others

“Think outside the box, collapse the box, and take a fucking sharp knife to it.”

― Banksy, Wall and Piece

1 Small Step To Take

“What’s the ultimate goal?”

No matter what you do, in life or in work, when you don’t know what to do, ask yourself this question:

“What is my ultimate goal in doing this? Is there any other way to achieve this goal that others didn’t do?”

PS: What does “mentally strong” mean?
