Reality: How to accept your low starting point  | 2023.4.4

Happy Reality Day! Here is your weekly dose of reality to help you live 1% happier.

1 Insight From Me

Have you have ever felt this way?

“Why do these people around me study better, are prettier, have richer families, have a lot of hobbies and even friends?” They seem to nail everything and have this life things figured out, leaving you feeling hopeless.

Even worse when you open Instagram, in which everyone is enjoying paradise while you are suffering in hot hell.

You can’t help but think – “Mom and Dad, why can’t you be more successful?”

So what to do?

This is actually a big topic, and I will cover it in a dedicated post on my website. For this newsletter, let’s just talk about one thing – whether poor people should have children (This is more of a Chinese problem, of course).

All people grow up in imperfect environment, and all people have been hurt in some way. Your parents’ parents were probably poorer, less informed, did them more harm, and provided worse conditions for their upbringing.

Then let’s talk about you. Are you financially sufficient to raise your own children? Do you know how to raise your child so that he can grow up healthy, both physically and mentally?

Maybe not.

Then I declare that you are not qualified to have children, can you accept it? 99% of the people in the world are basically in the same situation, so are they all not qualified to have children?

From the perspective of family, harm is passed down from generation to generation. Fairness means hurting each other and then forgiving each other.

Accept your background, learn to be grateful, and live happier for the rest of your life.

List 5 things you can thank your parents for, could be material, spiritual, or educational.

Remember, happiness doesn’t come from comparing yourself to others, but from pursuing your own goals.
